Three changes that make a room breathe.

Small rooms rarely need miniature everything. They need clearer circulation, correctly scaled anchors, and light that reaches more than one level.

01

Float one key piece.

Where circulation allows, pull seating 8–15 cm (3–6 in) away from the wall. Even a small shadow line can make the layout feel intentional.

02

Hang curtains high and wide.

Place the rod roughly 15–25 cm (6–10 in) above the frame and extend it beyond both sides so open curtains reveal more glass.

03

Layer the light.

Combine ambient, task, and accent light. One ceiling fixture tends to flatten a room; several lower sources create depth.
